The Payment & Stripe tab receives tenant rent. Your Tenantivo subscription is a different page. Card versus bank fee math, and who pays processing versus the Tenantivo service fee, is already in ACH vs card rent collection. This article is about where the rent goes.
Express is your payout account
During organization setup, complete Stripe Connect onboarding so rent, deposits, and auto-pay have a destination. Stripe hosts the Express account: identity, bank details, and payout schedule live there. Tenantivo stores the connection and shows status.
When onboarding is complete, the rent portion of a tenant charge routes to that connected account. The service fee can still appear on checkout before Connect is finished. Connect decides where the rent portion is routed. It does not turn the service-fee line on or off. Those switches are Tenant pays processing fee and Tenant pays Tenantivo service fee on Payment & Stripe. The fee preview on that tab shows tenant total, fees, and landlord net on a sample $1,000 charge before you save.
Get paid before the first charge
Connecting Stripe is the start. Open Get paid and finish the rest of the checklist: Stripe Identity (government ID and a live selfie), company documents until they are verified or support waives them, and property authority for each rental you will charge. Agents are outside that review and do not use property authority.
On a new landlord account, Tenantivo reviews each payment and releases the funds when it checks out. The platform does not keep the money. Bank payments wait for that review before Stripe charges them. Cards under $500 usually complete immediately. Cards of $500 or more, or several cards close together, can wait too. A card is not a way around a bank payment that is still in review. Bank auto-pay cannot enroll while those charges would need review, even if Allow auto-pay is on.
The full sequence is in Managing Rental Income and Payouts and the New Organization setup guide.
Read charges and payouts
On Configuration → Payment & Stripe, the connection panel is the status you should trust:
- Charges — Stripe is allowing payment processing.
- Payouts — Stripe is allowing bank payouts on the account.
- Account details — email, Stripe account id, and country.
View Stripe Dashboard opens the Express dashboard for balances and payout history. Refresh onboarding pulls Stripe’s latest requirements so an “action needed” banner clears after you finish a step. Catch up payouts records payouts Stripe has already released that Tenantivo has not stored yet. It writes history. It does not review a payment or release funds.
A later card dispute or Stripe fraud warning can pause a payout even after a payment looked complete. If payouts stop, check Stripe first, then Tenantivo support.
Disconnect leaves Stripe in place
Disconnect removes the connection inside Tenantivo. The Stripe account stays. You can connect again later, and payment history already in Tenantivo stays. Rent Stripe has already paid out stays paid out. To stop new charges while you sort an account, turn off Accept payments on the same tab.
Day-to-day collection still lives in Tenants → Payments: pending, completed, application payments, and manual entries. Training for that queue is Payments. Published fee examples are on Pricing.
