Area text

Customize labels and text that appear in different areas of the app.

What "area text" is and where it appears in the app

What it is: Area text is customizable labels and copy used in the application—e.g. you can change “Unit” to “Rental” or “Suite” so the UI matches your terminology. It appears in the Tenant portal, Management app, and other areas depending on what your product supports.

Why it matters: Consistent terms (e.g. “Lease” vs “Rental agreement”) reduce confusion for staff and tenants and make the app feel tailored to your organization.

Viewing and editing custom labels/text by area

How to get there: In the Owner portal, open Features (/Owner/Configuration) and use the Area text link in the introduction—or go directly to /Owner/AreaText. The Area text page shows fields you can customize.

Steps: (1) Select an area (e.g. Application, Tenant record, Maintenance) from the list or tabs. (2) You’ll see fields such as label for “Unit”, “Lease”, or section headings. (3) Edit the text in each field. (4) Save. Each area may have one or more fields; change only what you need.

Tip: Keep labels short and clear so they fit in the UI; avoid long sentences in single-label fields.

Saving area text and seeing changes in the UI

Steps: (1) After editing labels in an area, click Save. (2) Updated text is stored and will appear wherever that area is used—e.g. in the Tenant portal, Management app, or reports. (3) You may need to refresh the other screen or open it again to see the new wording.

Note: Changes apply org-wide; all users see the new labels in that area.

Which areas can be customized

What you see: On the Area text page, the list of customizable areas is shown—e.g. Application (tenant application flow), Tenant record, Maintenance, Leases, etc. Each area has a set of fields you can edit. Not every screen or label in the app is customizable; only those exposed in Area text.

Tip: If you don’t see an area you want to change, it may be fixed in the product; check release notes or contact support for new area-text options.
